Charles Rennie Mackintosh was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1868. He trained as an architect, as well as studying at the Glasgow School of Art, and is recognised as the forefather of the "Glasgow" style of Art Nouveau. He created many of his best works as an architect/designer in Glasgow at the turn of the century including the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland Street School and Hill House. His work is on permanent display at the Kelvingrove Art Galleries in Glasgow's West End.
