Luckenbooth Silver Brooch - the most romantic design in the history of Scotland. Popular in the 1700's, the heart-shaped brooches were traditionally exchanged between lovers on betrothal & subsequently pinned to a baby's shawl as protection against evil spirits. The name comes from their sale in the Luckenbooth around St. Giles Cathedral, Royal Mile, Edinburgh.
